Airports
Helsinki Airport
Vantaa airport Helsinki is 200km away. There are daily flights operated by Finnair and British Airways from London Heathrow and Manchester, plus all other major European destinations. The flights are usually jointly operated but I have found a big difference in the prices of the 2 operators, so it's definitely worth checking both (Finnair usually price themselves out the market!)
There is a new route just opened by SAS airlines operating as Blue 1 between London Stansted and Helsinki (Blue 1 are moving to Heathrow from April 2008) with prices from £72 incl taxes one way. Details can be found at Scandinavian Airlines or Blue1 SAS airlines also fly from many European destinations to Helsinki and other cities within Finland.
Tampere Airport
Tampere airport is only just over an hours drive from Mairela and is served by low cost airline Ryan Air flying from London Stanstead, Dublin, Frankfurt, Bremmen, Milan & Riga. They offer cheap flights particularly if you book early, prices start from £2.49 plus taxes one way, which suits most budgets! I can arrange a pick up from Tampere at a reasonable price if you are on a late flight. Please feel free to contact me and ask.
Coach
There is a very good coach network in Finland, with many coaches going directly from the airport. For further information visit Express Bus or Matkahuolto
Coaches
leave Helsinki airport to Lahti every other hour from stop number 13. At Lahti
you change coach, the coach to Kuhmoinen leaves from platform number 8. (but
that doesn't mean that all buses leaving from platform 8 come to Kuhmoinen!!)
You can buy your tickets on the coach for the return journey. As a rough estimate
the cost of 2 adults and 2 children travelling to Kuhmoinen & back on the
express is about €149 (~ £106).
Taxi
I can arrange a taxi pick up from either airport if required. Costs are approximately 200 Euro for 2-3 persons or 260 Euro for 6 persons from Helsinki Vantaa and 100 Euro to 130 Euro from Tampere.

All the major car rental companies have offices at the airport.
